Fake events covered in the news are part of revelation. Subsequent, fake ‘fake news’ is there to make the real ‘fake news’ deniable.
Like 9/11, Boston bombing, etc. they are there to trigger the Miss Marples and Hercule Poirots among us, to investigate – even though only a few of them will then figure out the bigger zodiacal picture.
It’s just a bit of eugenics – giving the perspicacious a little help in increasing their paltry chances of survival.
