Not to be outdone my Michigan’s new Muslim Congresswoman, Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib – who fled from reporters asking about her statement that she would help Democrats “impeach the motherfucker” in reference to President Trump – Hank Johnson made a speech recently in front of the NAACP to celebrate the anniversary of the Emanicipation Proclamation, when America’s first Republican president proclaimed the end of slavery – while labeling Republicans as evil and celebrating their early deaths.
I would say this is an example of Trump Derangement Syndrome at its finest, but this guy had a bad case of the stupids long before Trump ran for office. I am still impressed that this level of bias and ignorance can get someone elected and re-elected to Congress so many times. John Ward points out the facts and gives comical commentary on the insane stupidity of speeches new and old by Democratic Congressman Hank Johnson.

If 99.9% are doomed, then perhaps racial/cultural/ethnic diversity/mixing/miscegenation are considered genetic safety measures, especially if it’s not certain which continents may be spared the rinse cycle?

Helliconia is about a planet with two suns, and consequently two years (small year & great year).
Earth also has two suns, Sol & Set (@ 1-2 4-6,000 AU), and two years: a year, and a great year (24,000 years), albeit subject to a population cycle of 12,000 years (cataclysm at mid-great-winter and mid-great-summer).
Just as Helliconia has two races that thrive in different stages of the great year, so it may be surmised that Earth’s races may thrive accordingly (fecundity, intellect, immunity, etc.), although the Neanderthal may have been genocided to extinction despite any ecological advantages.

Given Aldiss was heavily influenced by H G Wells, and the latter was pretty important to Freemasonry, it’s likely that Aldiss became informed about the predicament of h sapiens, and eventually (like Kubrick) needed to vent what he knew, whilst ‘changing names to protect the innocent’.
To “develop a scientific-industrial civilisation capable of surviving throughout the great year” is thus what may be observed happening today, although it would be to develop a breakway/troglodytic civilisation capable not only of surviving the cataclysm but of being able to rapidly rebuild a technologically advanced civilation post-cataclysm that would have the luxury of a further 12,000 years in which to escape the planet’s gravity well, and thus escape Samsara.

I think you are correct in your assessment. Now if we are Helliconia, are there other humans out there watching over us – from a past great civilization that broke away, perhaps?

As to observation, perhaps the rumoured ‘Black Knight’ satellite is doing this?
